Hotel Riu Madeira - All Inclusive

Hotel in itself is outstanding in layout and location and amenities Food and drink delightful on the whole . Cocktails appear to be slushy ice versions in the pool bar but staff in the main bar were more than happy to make a fresh cocktail when asked Daily shuttles (free) to the capital Funchal and superb housekeeping, reception , bar and restaurant staff Local bus to Canico ( or a 1.5km talk up a very steep hill ) . We took the bus up and walked back Specialist restaurant the Kulinarium was of excellent quality . We stayed late August 2025 and we felt half way through the week certain aspects vastly improved during and after what appeared to be a hotel management visit - this was a shame as these element's have been of standard all along Between sat 23rd and Tue 26th the poolside and evening entertainment was lack lustre at best . Daytime events at the pool were only advertised on the digital boards in reception of guests searched themselves , but not announced around the pool properly , and therefore events such as pétanque appeared not to actually take place despite customers waiting for staff to announce Evening mains show between saturday and Tuesday started at 9:15 as advertised and were finished within 20 Minutes . Ribbon twirling was a particularly awful show section and embarrassing to watch On Wednesday then several hotel management in suits were onsite , and suddenly pool entertainment was announced with gusto , and the evening circus show lasted a full 45 minutes and the whole atmosphere lifted around the pool with announcements for the poolside games and music playing and guest morale picked up noticeably A shame this was not the standard all week However - minor staff issues on the entertainment side did not mar a wonderful hotel experience and would return

A fantastic place to stay. Friendly helpful staff, excellent food in both choice and quality. The free shuttle bus was also an added bonus. Thank to all at Riu Madeira, we had a wonderful holiday.
